HIGH POINT, N.C. — Tom’s Place in High Point is going to be featured on America’s Best Restaurants within the next few days.
ABR is a media and marketing company that focuses on shining a spotlight on local independent restaurants across the country. It was founded in 2018 as a way to help small businesses stay afloat amongst the bigger franchised restaurants in their area.
The traveling roadshow filmed the episode on February 14th and owner Chris Giannopoulos couldn’t have been more excited to tell Tom’s Place’s story.
“I just can’t believe they came here,” said Chris, “I knew we had great thing going, but I didn’t expect this at all.”
Chris’ parents, Tom and Anna Giannopoulos, opened Tom’s Place in 1987. According to Chris, his parents, “Wanted to build a great valued restaurant with a European flavor and the idea to always serve great food at a great price.”
Now, more than 35 years later, Tom’s Place is still a staple for breakfast food in the High Point area.
Students from High Point University agree that Tom’s Place fully deserves the achievement of being featured on ABR. Some even claiming it is the best restaurant in High Point.
“I go every Sunday for the pot roast,” says HPU senior Jacob Sharpe. “For how great the atmosphere and food is, they should get so many more awards.”
While Chris Giannopoulos is honored to be chosen by ABR, he hopes this accomplishment will help him keep meeting his parents’ goals.
“It takes a team to make Tom’s Place what it is, and I’m hoping this will only bring more people to us so we can fill more stomachs with great food.”
