The Blooming Board isn’t just serving charcuterie; it’s crafting an experience. Built on creativity
and community, the downtown High Point spot blends food, artistry, and connection. But like
many small businesses, balancing it all is the real challenge.
Owner Brandi Crumley launched The Blooming Board with the motto Gather, Graze, and Shop.
As a female entrepreneur with a background in retail, she turned her vision into a space where
people can enjoy beautifully crafted charcuterie, connect with others, and explore a unique
shopping experience.
“The original business idea was to take charcuterie into a retail space and combine the overall
experience for gather, graze, and shop: somewhere that you could gather with friends, family,
and colleagues, graze on charcuterie and small bites, and shop around while enjoying drinks in
downtown High Point,” Crumley said.
Community is at the heart of The Blooming Board, and Crumley believes local businesses thrive
when they support each other.
“It’s inspiring to have that friendship within the community, seeing familiar faces all the time, the
HPU families that love it when we deliver for a birthday or an event. We love High Point, we
love our downtown, and our neighbors are wonderful,” she said.
Kathryn Elliott, Director of Entrepreneurship at High Point University, emphasized the
importance of small businesses working together.
“They need to look at trends and talk to other businesspeople. There are so many ways to engage
with others, but it’s hard when you’re caught up in the day-to-day,” Elliott said.
That collaborative mindset has helped The Blooming Board thrive, earning it the title of High
Point’s Small Business of the Year in 2023.
What makes it stand out? According to Crumley, it’s the artistry behind every board.
“I think we stand out because everything is fresh, but we put an artistic, creative spin on it. Each
board is different. What you get today will look a little different tomorrow,” she said. “It’s
inspiring to see creativity come through us onto a board.”
Beyond charcuterie, The Blooming Board is known for its interactive events, offering guests
more than just a meal.
“We do a lot of events here… I think everyone loves it because it’s an interactive experience, and
right now, people are looking for that,” Crumley said.
At its core, The Blooming Board is more than a business. It’s a place where guests can gather,
savor beautifully crafted food, and feel at home.
“I hope our customers take away that they’re cared about. We put time and effort into our
products and the experience,” Crumley said. “From every bite to every sip, when you walk
through the door, we want you to feel like family.”
Whether it’s through a handcrafted board, a pop-up event, or a simple conversation, The
Blooming Board proves that great food and great company always go hand in hand.
